Chirp installation and removal is done in the most “native” way possible for each operating system platform on which it runs.
Installation
- Windows. When you downloaded Chirp, you received a .zip file (compressed file to speed your download). Use WinZip or similar utility to uncompress the file. When you do, you will see Chirp-installer.exe. Run this application.
- OS X. When you downloaded Chirp, you recieved a .sit file (compressed). Use Unstuffit or a similar utility to uncompress the file. When you do, you will see Chirp.dmg. Click this, and a window will open with the Chirp application in it. Drag the Chirp application to your Applications folder, or wherever you want it to go.
Uninstallation
- Windows. Use “Add/remove programs” in the Control Panel, or use the “Uninstall Chirp” application that lives in the Chirp Program Group (in your Start menu). This will remove the application and all its configuration files. The data files (with your task & project data) will remain in the folder you told Chirp to keep it in (the default is a folder called “Chirp” in your personal “Documents and Settings” folder.)
- OS X. Drag the Chirp application from where it lives to the Trash. This will remove the application and all its configuration files. The data files (with your task & project data) will remain in the folder you told Chirp to keep it in (the default is a folder called “Chirp” in your Library folder.)
