You may find yourself needing to change your Plum Canary account password. The most common situations (and methods) include:
- You desire to log in at plumcanary.com but forgot your password. Simply use the "Lost password" link and follow the instructions to reset your password.
- You wish to change your password as part of a normal security regimen. In this case, login to the plumcanary.com website using your existing username / password, and click the link to Update your account settings. Use the form provided to reset your password and update your profile.
Note that you always user the plumcanary.com site to change your password. (You can enter newly changed passwords into Chirp, but you must always reset/change them at plumcanary.com.)
It is important to note that your (single) plumcanary.com password is used in two ways:
- Website login. To permit you to log in at our website plumcanary.com, to review your license keys, etc.
- Chirp sync credentials. To authorize your instance of Chirp when Chirp attempts to synchronize data with the rest of your team (via our sync service.)
Note, therefore, that if you change your password on plumcanary.com, you must also put that new password into Chirp! Failure to do so will cause your copy of Chirp to stop syncing task information with your team.
If, then, you have changed your password at plumcanary.com, enter it into Chirp as follows:
- Open / run Chirp
- Open Preferences (Windows: File > Preferences; OS X: Chirp > Preferences)
- Select the Synchronization tab
- Click the Reset password button. Enter your newly-set password, and click OK.
Note: Plum Canary's website automatically disables an account if there have been too many attempts to log in incorrectly with a password. In this case, even resetting your password does not re-enable the account. If you enter the new password into Chirp, and Chirp raises an error indicating that "No such user or password exists...", please open a support ticket and ask for us to re-enable your account.
SPECIAL NOTE: (Unfortunately), our technical support system and the plumcanary.com website / Chirp are independent systems, and do not share user account / login credential information. If you use our customer support system, and create a user account (with your email address), the password you set / maintain here is distinct from your plumcanary.com / Chirp password. Sorry about that - we don't seem to be able to integrate the two (at the moment).
